Juventus look to hijack Inter Milan’s deal for Rakitic

Juventus are apparently planning a shopping spree in Barcelona over the summer. Don Balon has today linked them to three Barca stars, to strengthen their side next season as they plan their assault on the Champions League.

The paper claims they have targeted Samuel Umtiti, Jasper Cillesen and Ivan Rakitic to freshen up their squad. Umtiti has recently fallen behind Clement Lenglet in the pecking order at Barca, and there is a lot of speculation over his future, with Arsenal and Manchester United said to be monitoring his situation, believing he may be available for a cut price fee, following a season blighted by mistakes and injury. Cillesen meanwhile has been the long term understudy to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, and is thought to be close to signing for Benfica.

The big surprise though is the interest in Rakitic, who has been strongly linked to Inter over the past few months, with talk intensifying following Barcelona’s exit from the Champions League last week at the hands of Liverpool. If Juventus were to come calling for him, it would be hard for him to turn them down, and would be seen as a hammer blow to Inter’s transfer plans.
