Serie A giants Juventus have reportedly opened talks to sign Schalke midfield sensation Leon Goretzka, who also happens to be a Barcelona and Bayern Munich target.

Goretzka has emerged as one of Bundesliga’s best rising stars this season, after playing a vital role in helping Germany win the Confederations Cup this past summer. It seems as if Juventus have stolen a march on the others in the race to acquire his services.

Tuttosport claim that Juventus have started talks with Schalke to sign Goretzka on a free transfer, as his current contract at the Veltins Arena expires at the end of the current season.

Juventus and Giuseppe Marotta aim to steer clear of competition that will exist when January arrives as it is likely that Bayern Munich, Barcelona and even Liverpool could challenge them for Goretzka’s signature.

The German, who has been dubbed to be the ‘Next Toni Kroos by many, is a product of the VfL Bochum youth academy and was signed by Schalke in 2013 for just 3.5 million euros.
