Juventus to make January bid for Liverpool defensive target

Juventus and Liverpool are both looking for defensive reinforcements. The Old Lady acquired Benedikt Howedes in August but the German is being struggling with injuries and has yet to make his first official appearance with the Serie A giants.

According to Sport Mediaset (as quoted by ilbianconero) the Bianconeri wants to solve their defensive woes with the signing of Lazio star Stefan De Vrij.

Le Dutch centre-back will see his contract expire in June 2018 and has yet to reach an agreement with Lazio over his release clause.

Talks between the two parties are stalling as De Vrij and Lazio can’t reach an agreement over the player’s release clause.

Trouble is, the Serie A side are running out of time because De Vrij will be free to negotiate with any other team in January.

The player can leave Lazio as a free agent at the end of the season and negotiations with other clubs can begin in January.

Juventus are eager to offer Lazio an escape route and are reportedly ready to put € 20 million on the table in January.

Lazio still want € 40 million to sell the 25-year-old who, however, would risk to leave the club for free if he fails to pen a new agreement with the biancocelesti.
