Last time at Anfield: Liverpool v Napoli in November, 2010

Liverpool will host Napoli in a big game in the final round of the UEFA Champions League, as both sides hope to reach the round of 16 of the competition by getting a result for themselves.

The partenopei are currently topping the group with nine points following their win over Red Star Belgrade in the last gameweek, while Liverpool are currently third and Paris Saint-Germain second following the French side's 2-1 win two weeks ago.

Liverpool will want to win 1-0 to qualify, but if Napoli do score once, the Reds will have to win by a two goal margin to stand a chance of going into the next round.

And Jurgen Klopp's men will derive confidence from the last time Napoli visited Anfield back in 2010. And while times and circumstances were different, so was the league, but motivation can be taken from the smallest of things.

Liverpool were top of their group in the UEFA Europa League and were held to a goalless draw at the Stadio San Paolo when Napoli paid them a visit in November.

Ezequiel Lavezzi had raced Walter Mazzarri's men into a lead and the partenopei were all but dominating a game that Liverpool looked very unorganized and nonchallant about winning since they had already come very close to sealing qualification.

Steven Gerrard came on in the second half to turn things around for Liverpool though, as the Reds' skipper notched up a terrific hat-trick to hand Roy Hodgson's men a convincing win and a second half performance to be proud of.

Liverpool will hope for more of the same, but this Napoli side isn't to be taken for granted. Despite a stuttering start to the season, Ancelotti's men have established themselves at the second spot in the league.
