Latest: Man City close to capturing €35m Real Madrid defender

Danilo is very close to becoming a Manchester City player, according to the latest reports from Spain.

Mundo Deportivo claim that the 26-year-old is close to leaving Real Madrid for Manchester.

The Catalan paper claim that Pep Guardiola’s side have triumphed in this close race, despite the fact that Chelsea are looking for someone to join instead of Alex Sandro.

The Brazilian full-back is said to have reached a “total” agreement with the Citizens, and that both clubs are close to agreeing to a deal worth €30-35 million.

This is just as well, because the Sky Blues were told they would have to pay 34.86m (£30.8m).

It looked like Chelsea were ahead in the race, after Danilo’s possible move to Juventus had fallen through because the Turinese side wouldn’t meet the Madrid side’s price.

He has provided nine assists between the Liga and the UCL in two seasons, but only made 17 appearances (all starts) in last season’s Spanish League.
