Lazio penalty hero says he won't be Buffon's heir

Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha has dismissed reports linking him to Juventus.

The Lazio goalkeeper was the hero at the weekend as the Eagles defeated the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium, thanks in part to the Albanian’s last-minute penalty save.

Despite having signed Wojciach Szczesny, Juventus have been linked to the goalkeeper in the last few days, though that could also be destabilisation.

“Possible successor to Buffon at Juve? I don’t know about any interest from the Bianconeri,” he told Supersport, “I’m very happy at Lazio. I have the confidence of the Coach and the entire club. I want to stay here for a long time.”

With Gianluigi Buffon saying that he isn’t sure if he will play after next year’s World Cup in Russia, Juventus have been linked to a raft of young goalkeepers, including Alex Meret of SPAL and Gianluigi Donnarumma of Milan, the latter threatening to not renew his deal last summer.
