Legendary president Massimo Moratti bids farewell to Inter

Suning Group have completed Inter’s takeover. The Chinese consortium owns the 68.55% stake in the club now, whilst Erick Thohir holds the 30%, which means that legendary Inter President Massimo Moratti leaves the club after 21 years.

The Italian businessman met reporters earlier today to share his thoughts on Suning’s acquisition.

“I am happy that the new adventure is starting well. I’ve just spoken to Thohir and Zhang’s son. He’s a very clever guy. I’ve thanked them for the kind and polite words about me and I’ve wished them the best for the future.”

“Like any other fan, I expect to see a relaunch, which is what they are planning now. I believe Mancini will stay, but I don’t know if he’ll renew.”

“A new ownership will allow the club to negotiate new clauses with UEFA for the FFP and this should give them more freedom in the transfer market. Let’s see how they will manage to adjust everything, but they want to invest.”

“It will be complicated, like it was for Thohir, but when he was that things were not going the right way, he found a new consortium straight away. I am not going to stay as an advisor, but I’ll remain on good terms with Thohir and new owners, I don’t think they need me anymore in the club.”
