Despite playing reasonably against Wales, Slovakia saw their attacking edge blunted for most of their 2-1 defeat, with Napoli star Hamsik unlucky to see an effort on goal be turned away by the last man.
Whilst they flattered to deceive, Leonid Slutsky's Russia came away from Marseille with a point courtesy of Vasili Berezutski's last-minute header... not to mention UEFA's threat to kick them out of the competition if their fans persisted in trying to recreate World War II.
