At 2PM GMT, Roma and Lazio face off in the 143rd Derby della Capitale. The Giallorossi are once again in the title race, and without a Juventus Deux Ex Machina racking up points with robotic efficiency, the Scudetto race is wide open. With attacking sides like Fiorentina and Napoli involved, as well as the more clinical Inter - who did enough to nab three points against Rudi Garcia's men Roma last week - it will be a thrilling race to the finish.
Lazio's name would have been mentioned, were it not for the fact that they have lost three of their last four, the last defeat an embarassing 3-1 at the hands of Milan at the Olimpico. With Coach Stefano Pioli reported to be on the brink and owner Claudio Lotito giving his playes the hair dryer treatment after their latest defeat, things are not well in the Blue side of Rome. Good job they're playing the derby then, a game that has often run counter to all expectation.
Empoli - Juventus
Juventus hope to carry on from where they left off against Torino last weekend, the Bianconeri recovering from Cesare Bovo's equaliser to win it at the death thanks to a Juan Cuadrado goal. Things aren't rosy in Turin, however, with reports of Coach Max Allegri putting an end to experimenting with young players in favour of racking up points now.
Empoli, on the other hand, have recovered from a catastrophic start to the season, their four defeats in six games a distant memory as they come impressive wins over Genoa and Palermo, as well as a draw on the road to Sampdoria.
