Liverpool believe €40m Roma winger is too expensive

Liverpool are baulking at Mo Salah’s price, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The former Chelsea player had no joy in his short Premier League stint, but has been a superstar in Italy, scoring 29 Serie A goals over the last two seasons for Roma.

While this has attracted the Reds’ interest, they believe that the £35 million (40m) they are asking for it too much, and are seeking out alternatives.

One of them is Gelson Martins of Sporting, the other Keita Balde Diao of Lazio, and the latter is available for 30 million.

Liverpool are looking for options for their attacking midfielders, where Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho need to be replaced from time to time, and competition to keep them honest.

Salah was originally acquired by Chelsea from Basel for €13.2m, and sold to Roma for €15m last summer after spending a season on loan there.
