Liverpool chiefs to meet with French strikers representatives this week to try to complete £50M move to Anfield

According to Express Sport, Liverpool are ready to move quickly to try to nip in and take French striker Alexandre Lacazette from under the noses of both Arsenal and Manchester United. The journal reports that Anfield chiefs are heading across The Channel this week for a meeting with the 26-year-old’s representatives to try to close out a £50M deal.

Lacazette, who once again rifled in the goals for Lyon last season scoring 37 in all competitions, looked set to be heading to Atletico Madrid but with the Spanish club having their transfer embargo upheld, his future now lies elsewhere. Arsenal have been long time admirers and were reportedly close to signing him last summer; Manchester United meanwhile, are looking for alternatives to Antoine Griezmann who has pledged his immediate future to Atletico.

Lyon are still hopeful he will remain with them next season but it’s looking almost certain that he will leave as he reportedly wants to play in the Champions League. At the moment, only Manchester United out of his three pursuers can guarantee that.
