Liverpool-Man Utd: Lukaku could have been sent off if he was playing in Serie A

Liverpool and Manchester United are playing at the Anfield Road in one of the most awaited game in Europe this week-end. The Red Devils’ star Romelu Lukaku seemed to have kicked out at Dejan Lovren before the first half and Liverpool fans are complaining on social media about the referees decision who did not punish the Belgian.

If the same episode would have happened in Italy, the referee would have surely used the VAR to take a decision.

Lukaku does actually step on Lovren but he seems not to do it on purpose. The striker,  in fact, is about the fall on the ground and even if he touches the Reds’ defender he clearly does not kick him on purpose. Trouble is, Lukaku toches the face of Lovren with his right feet and seems to be looking at Lovren when he does it.
An Italian referee could have sent off Lukaku after watching the action with the VAR although the decision is a tough one to take given that Lukaku does not clearly watch at Lovren when he ‘kicks’ him.
