Liverpool offer free-agent, French full-back two-year deal at Anfield

According to reports in The Sun, Liverpool have made a move to sign French full-back Gael Clichy. The 31-year-old is available on a free-transfer after being told by Manchester City that they would not be renewing his contract this summer. Now Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who is desperate to strengthen the full-back areas at Anfield, is understood to have made a move to sign the former Arsenal player.

Clichy spent six years at City after moving from North London and Klopp is believed to have offered him a two-year deal on Merseyside which the player is now considering. Over the past season, the German has deployed James Milner in the left-back position and despite the former England international having a successful campaign, Klopp now wants a naturally left-footed player to fill the role.

Liverpool have moved fast to strengthen the squad ahead of the new campaign having agreed a deal with young Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke on Tuesday.
