Liverpool transfer update: Reds raise their offer for Naby Keita as journalist claims that a deal is close

Having already had a £57M offer for Naby Keita rejected by RB Leipzig, Liverpool are reportedly ready to raise their bid to £65M. The Liverpool Echo states that the Merseyside giants are desperate to tie up the deal for one of Europe’s most promising midfielders with boss Jurgen Klopp ready to smash the clubs transfer recored to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield this summer.

As we reported earlier today, Liverpool now face competition from Italian side Inter who are believed to be ready to offer €55M (which is the release clause that can be activated in the summer of 2018) and leave the player to spend a final term at his current employers.

Leipzig have constantly stated that they will not sell this summer but AIPS journalist Chris Williams declared on Twitter that the balance of power may have shifted in Liverpool’s favour when he stated that; “Keita is desperate to move Liverpool but RB Leipzig will not move on their “not for sale” stance. RB Leipzig may deal at an improved figure. Balance in favour of a LFC move has tipped.”
