Man City had €65m offer for Napoli star rejected

Manchester City had an offer rejected for Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, the Gazzetta dello Sport reveals.

The Senegalese international - who moved to Napoli three seasons ago for a bargain 10 million - has been targeted by Chelsea and Liverpool before, but is liked across Europe.

He started 28 games last season for Napoli, and has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A.

The Gazzetta claim that Manchester City offered €65m to the Partenopei, but it wasn’t enough to persuade Aurelio de Laurentiis’ side to let go of him. Liverpool bid €40 earlier this summer.

Chelsea bid €55m for him last summer, with Antonio Conte desperate to sign a defender from Serie A. Napoli and Man City are set to face off in the same Champions League group.

Agent Bruno Satin recently opened to the possibility of a move, saying that  “Kalidou is under contract with Napoli at the moment. A new season has just begun, let’s see what will happen. There is time until the 31st of August and anything can happen till that date”.
