Man United legend Evra could be sacked following karate kick incident

Patrice Evra could actually be sacked by Marseille following his Cantona-esque moment of madness.

The French international and former Manchester United star karate-kicked an abusive fan after the Ligue 1 side surprisingly lost to Vitoria Guimaraes in Europa League action last night.

According to an OM press release, Evra will be investigated by the club.

It reads: “In any case a professional player should keep a cool head when provoked, as unjustified and harsh as any provocation may be.

“But the club can’t condemn every incident of destructive behaviour from these so-called fans, who insult their players instead of supporting the team.”

Even Coach Rudi Garcia agreed with the statement, saying that “Pat shouldn’t react. It’s obvious.”

The 36-year-old has been provisionally handed a one-match ban by UEFA, but things may get worse for him. The former Juventus man hasn’t had behavioural issues since being accused of being one of the ringleaders of the dressing room rebellion which partly scuppered France’s World Cup campaign in 2010.
