Man United man doesn't regret leaving Serie A, won't exclude return

Matteo Darmian doesn’t regret moving to Manchester United, despite the knock it has had on his reputation.

Formerly considered to be one of Italy’s most promising full-backs, the 27-year-old moved to Old Trafford for €18 million in 2015, but hasn’t played a starring role.

He only started one Premier League games this season, and a mere fifteen last season, even with Luke Shaw out because of injury.

"I don't regret the decision I took," he said as Italy prepare for their upcoming qualifiers.

“I would make the same decision over and over again. Obviously like every footballer I would like to be playing as much as possible, but I am working hard, putting in the effort and trying to make the manager's decisions difficult, and I'll continue to do that.

Darmian refused to rule out a return, however, hinting that he was always keeping an eye on Serie A:
"I won't deny that I always watch Italian football and I don't know what will happen in the future. If there is an opportunity to return, then I'll make the necessary evaluations."
