Man Utd and Chelsea alerted as Barcelona scout Napoli stars

Barcelona are looking for possible replacements around Europe and according to Mundo Deportivo there are three Napoli players the blaugrana have been monitoring of late.
The Catalan paper states Barcelona scouts went to Rome this past week-end to watch Roma-Napoli with Dries Mertens, Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne who had been closely monitored by representatives of the La Liga giants.

Koulibaly is a long time target of Chelsea. The Blues made several offers to sign him, both in summer 2016 and 2017.

Napoli, however, have always rejected every offer for the Senegalese centre-back who is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe at the moment.

Insigne is also being monitored by Barcelona. Mino Raiola (who is not the player’s agent) offered the talented winger to Barcelona in the summer transfer window but Napoli informed the blaugrana that the player was not for sale, not even for an offer close to € 100 million.

As for Mertens, he is the most likely to leave Naples next summer. The Belgian striker has a € 28 million release clause included in his contract and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he is not going to offer him a new deal in the coming months.
Mertens’ release clause can only be activated in the summer and Manchester United are also being linked with a summer move for the 30-year-old striker.
