Man Utd boost as Barcelona could refuse to sign Griezmann: here’s why

Barcelona are reported to be in talks with Atetico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has a € 100 million release clause that Barcelona need to meet if they are to sign the Petite Diable. The Colchoneros won’t sell their star for a lower fee and Barcelona executives are now considering whether to match the player’s price-tag in the summer.

Griezmann is going through tough times at the Wanda Metroplitano, his own fans booed him during the Madrid derby yesterday and the player is under pressure for his poor performances this season.

Barcelona did sign another Atletico Madrid star a few years ago, Arda Turan, and executives of the blaugrna fear the Frenchman would flop at the Camp Nou just like his former teammate has done in Cataluña.

According to a report of Don Balon Barcelona are now in two minds as they don’t know whether the signing of Griezmann would worth an investment of € 100 million.

This could be very good news for Manchester United as the Red Devils are long time admirers of the talented French striker having been linked with a move for Griezmann since over one year. In case Barcelona refuse a chance to sign Griezmann, the Red Devils would be given a huge transfer boost in their chase for the France International.
