Manchester United boss Mourinho to chase Higuain?

It's official: Jose Mourinho has taken over at Manchester United, arguably one of the worst scenarios imaginable for Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.

In order to cash the cheques that his mouth will inevitably write (never change, Jose!), the Special One will need (and ask for) marquee signings. How about Gonzalo Higuain, whom we wrote about a few weeks ago as being a potential Mou transfer target?

And to think that three years ago, Mourinho packed the Argentine off when he was still managing Real Madrid. A lot has changed since then, and El Pipita has truly become on Europe's Top 5 strikers, bagging a scandalous 36 goals in 35 Serie A games this season.

Problem is, Aurelio De Laurentiis won't let the jewel in his crown leave on the cheap: there's a €94 million release clause, counterbalanced by Higuain's wish to play in the Premier League and desire to be a part of a strong, elite team.

Napoli's only choice may be to increase his salary (which we discussed here) as well as bring in a couple of big hitters themselves. With Champions League football already under his belt and the chance to truly compete for the Serie A title, the Argentine could well be persuaded to remain...
