Scouting Report: Manchester United miss out on new Spanish defensive sensation

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been left disappointed by the news that highly-rated young Spanish defender Miguel Gutierrez has opted to stay at Real Madrid rather than make a move to Old Trafford.

According to reports in Spain, the 16-year-old, who has impressed in the academy ranks in the Spanish capital last season, was on the priority list this summer at United who are renowned for nurturing outstanding young talent. Barcelona star Gerard Pique cut his teeth at Old Trafford before returning to his boyhood club but the same won’t be happening with Gutierrez who has opted to stay put.

It’s believed he has the potential to become one of the best defenders in the world with many experts predicting he will be a first-team regular within three years. According to Diario Madridsta, Los Blancos will now offer him a fresh deal to play in their “B” team next term.
