Manchester United to bid €150m for Napoli star

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is apparently Manchester United’s top transfer target this summer. According to The Daily Mirror, United boss Solskjaer is desperate to add a quality centre-back to the squad, with doubts over a number of their current centre-backs resurfacing after a dreadful end to the season.

And there are few more outstanding defenders in world football than Koulibaly, who has been a vital component in Napoli’s team this season. Carlo Ancelotti recently said that he felt that Koulibaly was the best centre-back in the world, and so it is expected that he will not let the Senegalese powerhouse leave on the cheap.

United are apparently willing to spend around €150m on Koulibaly, but even a figure that high may not be enough to tempt Napoli to sell their star. Koulibaly recently signed a new contract, to tie him to the club until 2023, meaning Napoli will be in no rush to cash in on him. It has been reported that in 2021 Koulibaly’s buy-out clause will become active, which is set at €150m. Juventus are also thought to be interested in Koulibaly, but are unlikely to spend that amount of money on a centre-back.
