Marco Verratti to miss EURO 2016 with sports hernia

Definitely not good news from Paris for Italy National Team coach Antonio Conte. As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport points out, Marco Verratti is in serious danger of missing EURO 2016 as the PSG star is still struggling to recover from a sports hernia.

The 23-year-old centre midfielder has only 28 appearances in all competitions this term and the ‘conservative therapy’ he’s been undergoing since last February has not produced positive results, so much so Verratti may be forced to have a surgery to recover from the injury.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport there’s only the 30% of chance to see Verratti playing EURO 2016 next summer and with Claudio Marchisio also out of action due to a serious knee injury, Conte might give veterans Daniele De Rossi or Andrea Pirlo a call-up to Italy’s EURO 2016 squad.
