Marotta: Man City, Chelsea target left Juventus because he wanted to

Giuseppe Marotta claims that Leonardo Bonucci left Juventus because he “made a decision.”

An Italy star and former member of the renowned BBC with Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli, the Viterbo native left the Bianconeri for only 40 million, despite arguably being one of the highest-rated defenders in the world.

Since performing at a lower level, a clear picture of a player feuding with the Bianconeri - especially Coach Max Allegri has emerged.

Marotta seemed to confirm this as he spoke to the Domenica Sportiva television show.

“Why did we sell Bonucci? Because we know very well that choices are primarily made by the players, to they’re the architects of their own destiny,” he said.

“Bonucci made a decision, and Juventus don’t hold on to players who express the will to leave.

“That doesn’t mean relations are bad, Bonucci is a great player but he made this choice, probably to enhance his skills and find new stimuli.”

“Bonucci is a top player,” he added,“it’s definitely been a difficult transition for him, but I think you have to evaluate his teammates too.”
