Marotta: 'Witsel? A deal has been postponed. Pogba? He wanted to leave. Higuain would’ve still arrived'

Giuseppe Marotta spoke about numerous transfer topics in an interview with Jtv, here is what he had to say:

Final vote for Juve’s transfer window: "We are very satisfied with our transfer market , I want to thank everyone who helped me : Fabio Paratici, Pavel Nedved, the president and all of the technical and sporting staff, we reached our objective".

On possible January additions: "We hope to stay the same, this would mean that things have gone well for us. Our objective is to always try and improve. We always have to look for the right opportunity".

On the transfer fees: "Well I can tell you that the numbers have increased a lot over the past few years, it has become a bit illogical. Teams are now making more money and because of this, the transfer fees and players salaries have also increased".

On the Champions league: "It isn’t a dream or an obsession. It is an objective. When Juventus participates in a tournament, they have to try and win it, the same time goes for the Italian Supercup, the Coppa Italia, etc…".

On the new format of the Champions league: "The President is doing a great job and he is the one behind this change. It will be interesting for a league like Italy's to be able to have 4 teams participate in the CL unlike now, where there are only 2 guaranteed spots. This hurt a lot of Italian teams over the past few seasons".

On Pogba and Higuain: "Pogba? We did not want to sell him but he wanted to change teams. It was impossible to hold on to him. Higuain? Even if Pogba would’ve stayed, Higuain was still going to arrived".

On Witsel: "We have a strong roster. We can also count on Asamoah in that position and Lemina is growing. As for Witsel, everything was done and Zenit even gave him permission to undergo his medicals with us. In the end, the fact that Zenit could not find a replacement in time blocked a deal, or should I say postponed it ".

On Matuidi: "Matuidi? We had talks ongoing with PSG but then they wanted to keep him, we couldn’t do anything about it".

On Marchisio: "He is still undergoing his rehad. Within a few months he will return to being the Marchisio we all know".
