Mattiello has almost recovered from fibula injury and could be set for Juventus stay

Federico Mattiello travelled to Zagreb alongside his teammates of Juventus for yesterday’s Champions League clash, but watched the Old Lady’s 4-0 win from the stands. Mattiello’s exclusion, however, was the sweetest ever as the promising full back has almost fully recovered from a fibula injury he picked up less than one year ago.

Last year’s injury was the second one in his career. Mattiello had already picked up a similar injury during Chievo-Roma in March 2015 and suffered a relapse last October, when he was close to completing his recovery.

Being just 21, Mattiello has still plenty of room to improve and Juventus wanted him back at the club after the end of the last campaign. Juventus’ medical staff have been following his gradual recovery on a daily basis and Mattilello is now almost ready for the great return.

Max Allegri sees him as a potential future starter and Juventus can now either decide to keep him in the squad or selling him on loan to help him getting game time and return to the club in a few years time, when he could be 100% ready to cope with the pressure coming from playing for a team like Juventus.

Mattiello is finalizing rehabilitation and the Serie A giants will take a decision over his future in January, when the winter transfer window opens.
