Messi’s father dismisses anti-independence clause reports

In response to a question on rumours suggesting his son would look to leave Barcelona if Catalonia declares independence from Spain, Lionel Messi’s father told La Red: “What has been said is not true. There is a commitment on Leo’s part to stay with the club until they find a competitive league to play in. If Catalonia separates from Spain, Messi will remain while they negotiate a deal to join another division. This is not in doubt.
