Messi talks to Coutinho over possible move to Barcelona this summer

Argentine superstar Lionel Messi used Friday’s international friendly with Brazil to try to convince Liverpool play-maker Philippe Coutinho to make the move to the Camp Nou this summer. The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield with Barcelona at the front of the queue to sign him.

New Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is also a fan of the Brazilian international whose fellow countryman and friend Neymar, has also been trying to persuade to move to La Liga next season. The Blaugrana see Coutinho is the natural successor to Andres Iniesta and the new boss wants to make some impact signings this summer as they look to wrestle the league title back from bitter rivals Real Madrid.

Don Balon reports that Messi tried to use influence on the player who its thought would only leave Merseyside for a club like Barcelona. The portal states that a chance to play alongside Messi and Neymar could still be an offer too good to turn down although they would face an almighty task to prize him away from Jurgen Klopp and company.
