AC Milan: Mexes could stay. Inter: Astori farther

One of AC Milan’s priorities for the next transfer window is the signing of a new midfielder, considering the injury suffered by 29-year-old Riccardo Montolivo; despite the recent rumors, the rossoneri keep on tracking Valencia 25-year-old Ever Banega –who could perhaps be involved in the negotiation for the signing on permanent basis of 28-year-old defender Adil Rami- and, according to L’Equipe, have contacted Marcelo Simonian, agent of the Argentina international. The Lombard club also needs to reinforce its team’s flank, and, according to the Daily Mail, Milan keep on tracking Chelsea 33-year-old Ashley Cole, even if –as reported by the Daily Express- Monaco remain the most probable destination for the English player. The rossoneri are also seeking a center back, and, as well as city rivals Inter Milan are keen on Atletico Madrid 19-year-old José María Giménez, but could finally decide to keep 32-year-old Philippe Mexes: as outlined by calciomercato.com, the Lombard club is thinking about extending until June 2016 the contract of the Frenchman and reduce his salary from 4 million euros per year to 2,5 millions. Both the Milanese clubs, expecially Inter, are also thinking about Cagliari 27-year-old Davide Astori, but, according to the Corriere dello Sport, also Lazio are keen on the player.
