Milan 1- 2 Betis: the rossoneri crash to defeat in the Europa League

AC Milan host Real Betis at San Siro this evening as the Rossoneri look to continue their 100% start to their 2018/19 Europa League campaign. Milan defeated Luxembourg side Dudelange 1-0 away from home in their opener, winning 3-1 against Olympiakos in their most recent clash. Betis, on the other hand, defeated Dudelange 3-0 at home in the last-match day, drawing 0-0 in Greece with Olympiakos in their opener.

Milan come into the match fresh with disappointment after Sunday’s Milan derby in which Argentine forward Mauro Icardi scored a stoppage-time winner; after a momentary lapse in concentration from young Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks. Before the match against Inter Milan, Rino Gattuso’s side had won three matches in-a-row, 3-1’s against Olympiakos and Chievo Verona, winning 4-1 away from home at Sassuolo.

Real Betis exceeded expectations last season to qualify for the Europa League but faced the departure of some key players over the summer, including Spanish playmaker Fabian Ruiz who moved to Milan’s divisional rivals Napoli. Betis are currently 11th in La Liga, with three wins, three draws and three defeats from their first nine league games.

Confirmed line-ups:

Milan:  Reina; Calabria, Romagnoli, Zapata, Laxalt; Bakayoko, Biglia, Bonaventura; Castillejo, Higuain, Borini.

Betis: Pau Lopez, Barragan, Mandi, Bartra, Sidnei, Junior, William, Lo Celso, Canales, Sergio Leon, Sanabria
