Milan: Fassone looks to find FFP compromise with UEFA

January may be two months away, but AC Milan’s transfer fortunates may be decided in two weeks. On November 9th, Marco Fassone is set to meet with UEFA executives to negotiate a Financial Fair Play (FFP) agreement.

As a result of their extreme spending spree over the summer, which saw them drop ~€220 million, AC Milan will need to pay penalties for exceeding their allotted spending limit.

By voluntarily offering to negotiate an FFP agreement, Fassone is hoping to convince UEFA to allow the Rossoneri 3-5 years to pay off their debt. However, if no agreement is reached, UEFA will levy a unilateral fine against the club.

The same fate has prevented clubs like Inter Milan and AS Roma from pursing their targets to the best of their wallets’ abilities. Further complicating the situation, Milan’s shareholders meeting is scheduled only four days later. The board will have to approve of the half-yearly budget at that meeting.
