Milan losing faith in summer signing

If reports are to be believed, struggling Serie A giants AC Milan have increasing doubts about the abilities of summer signing Hakan Calhanoglu, who has been disappointing since joining from Bayer Leverkusen.

It is believed that Milan feel that the signing of Calhanoglu has fueled more regrets than hopes of happiness and the Turkish star has struggled to find his feet in a new country and in a completely different league.

The rossoneri have been left frustrated by Calhanoglu’s lack of form this season and it isn’t just because he hasn’t settled into the league well, but also because of his inability to fit into the system.

Vincenzo Montella has tried playing him as the number ten behind two strikers, on the outside left of the 4-3-3 and even in the centre of the midfield five in the 3-5-2 formation, but nothing has worked out for the former Bayer Leverkusen superstar.

In what has been a frustrating season for Milan so far, Calhanoglu has scored only once and has assisted just as much in 10 Serie A appearances, a count that isn’t good enough for a player as good as him.
