Barcelona ready to sell star midfielder to Milan to fund their chase for Verratti

AC Milan are putting together one of the most spectacular transfer campaigns of recent years. The arrival on Friday of Leonardo Bonucci and Lucas Biglia took the Rossoneri’s spending to €207M so far this summer and according to reports in Spain this morning, the next player on the radar is Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
 
It’s claimed by Don Balon that the Italian side have now registered their interest in the 29-year-old Croatian international who will be the make weight if Italian international Marco Verratti manages to complete his reported €100M move to the Camp Nou.
 
Rakitic joined the Catalan giants in 2014 and has now made over 100 appearances for the Blaugrana. The player also signed a new four-year deal in March on the day of his 29th birthday but new boss Ernesto Valverde is ready to offload him if he can get his hands on his number one summer target.
 
The portal also states that Barca may even be ready to sell Rakitic in order to receive funds to aid their pursuit of Verratti whose future at this moment remains uncertain.
