Mirabelli: 'Cristiano Ronaldo to AC Milan was a done deal, he told us that..'

Former AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has revealed that the rossoneri were very close to signing Cristiano Ronaldo this past summer.

Mirabelli and Marco Fassone were removed from their positions at the San Siro based side after the Chinese ownership fell through and the Elliot Fund took over the club this past summer.

Mirabelli though, was recently talking to a show called QSVS on Telelombardia and he was asked about Ronaldo. He revealed that the Juve star could well have joined Milan and a deal was close.

The Italian said: "Fassone and I did not contradict ourselves. There was a possibility. I was told that there were possibilities to take Ronaldo. We did not kid ourselves.

"I can assure you that if the current ownership was in place, Cristiano Ronaldo would have been playing for AC Milan today. But mathematically, No.

"Ronaldo told us: "I have never won the Europa League and I will win that too." I was convinced: I sat down with the agent and my work was over , I had defined a bit of the deal, even the fee and the price tag. I was not afraid to come up with big figures, I was calm because when Berlusconi gave Milan to the Chinese, we had talked about a great man, great lawyers and big banks."
