Miranda: Inter signing Gabigol 'struggling with tactical side of Calcio'

It’s not been a picnic for Inter’s latest signing, Gabriel Barbosa.

Gabigol, as he is known in Brazil, has struggled to even get on the pitch, so far being limited to 18 minutes’ worth of relief against Bologna, where the Olympic champion showed himself to be off the pace.

Luckily for him, team-mate and compatriot Joao Miranda has stepped up to the plate to defend him in a recent press conference.

“He’s a great striker, and he’s working well,” Miranda told assembled media, “When a Brazilian arrives in Europe, he encounters difficulties in adapting to the new style of play”.

“He’s struggling to fully get the tactical part of the game, but he’s a young player with huge potential, and intelligence.

    “He could fit Inter”.

Barbosa, 20, was signed for an undisclosed fee (reported to be around the 25 million mark), and was coming off a seven-goal Brasileirao with Santos before his move, which was in itself a very big event, being hosted at Pirelli’s Milan headquarters.
