Monaco look to trump AC Milan for Chelsea star

French giants Monaco have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder and AC Milan target Cesc Fabregas.

The Spanish midfielder has fallen out of favor at Chelsea ever since Maurizio Sarri arrived at the club. Ross Barkley has made his impact and that has seen Fabregas fall down the pecking order. The 31-year-old has appeared only four times so far in the Premier League.

Gazzetta dello Sport state that Monaco have joined the race to sign Fabregas, as they look to go past AC Milan in the race to sign the former Arsenal and Barcelona man.

Monaco boss Thierry Henry knows Fabregas during their days together as a player at Arsenal, where they won the Invincibles title under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger.

Milan have already held primary talks with Fabregas, but Monaco are looking to hijack a move by putting a suitable offer on the table.
