Mourinho sacked: race between Blanc, Conte and Zidane for Man Utd bench

After months of poor results, the actual sacking Jose Mourinho didn't come as a surprise, though not many expected it to happen at this point of the season. As a result of the decision, the Man Utd management will now have to find a valid replacement, who is likely to take charge at the end of the season.

Until the end of the season, the Red Devils will be led by an interim manager, which should be announced within 48 hours. Until then, assistant manager Michael Carrick will take over.

In regards to the long-term solution, Zinedine Zidane fits the profile perfectly. After taking a break as a manager, winning three Champions League titles in three years, the Frenchman is now eager to return to a new challenge. In regards to Antonio Conte, the contractual situation with Chelsea is still causing some legal issues, although the Italian would be up for the challenge.

Looking at more immediate solutions, Laurent Blanc is currently out of contract and could join straight away, as opposed to United bringing in the solution at the end of the season.
