Mourinho takes a shot at the media after Man United win

Jose Mourinho has taken a shot at what he calls “specialists”, in other words journalists who he thinks claim to do their job better than him.

The Portuguese Coach has done a good job this season of turning Manchester United around: they are second in the Premier League, and are coming off a win against a Harry Kane-less Tottenham.

Yet the Special One is always going to have his critics, with many in the media community thinking that he was wrong to play so defensively against Liverpool for a second year in a row, when a number of other teams have taken the game to the Anfield side and scored against them.

Speaking to BT after last night’s 2-0 win over Benfica, Mourinho said (according to Samuel Luckhurst of the MEN): "It's better for the specialists to comment than for me to give my opinion. I'm paid to work and do my best which I do every day. The specialists are free to comment so let them comment.

"I'm more than happy. We changed a lot of players and broke the dynamic of the team we played a kid from the academy [Scott McTominay]. We score two goals we didn't concede. More money for the club. Three more points. No significant injuries."

The Red Devils won despite missing a penalty during the game, Anthony Martial being lucky that his mistake from the spot was forgotten when a Nemanja Matic shot ricocheted off Mile Svilar to open the scoring. Daley Blind scored from the spot later on.
