Naby Keita tells RB Leipzig he wants to join Liverpool

One of Liverpool’s big summer transfer targets has reportedly told his current employers he wants to make the move to Anfield. The Daily Star claims that Guinean midfielder Naby Keita has spoken to RB Leipzig chiefs and told them he wants to make the switch to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has been courted by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for the past 12 months and despite constant noises coming out of Germany which state that the highly-rated midfielder is not for sale, Klopp seems determined to get his man.

It’s been a quiet summer so far for the red half of Merseyside with the arrival of speedy Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah the club’s only real big money signing. Liverpool are understood to have made contact with RB Leipzig once again last week to be told that Keita will not be allowed to leave.

Now it remains to be seen if the player himself will try to instigate a move away from the club and complete his dream switch to Anfield. In the meantime, Klopp has tried to reassure worried fans ahead of next month’s big kick-off, stating that; “If any of our fans think about what the other teams are doing and why we aren't doing anything, I can't help, sorry. We cannot only buy players because other teams buy players.”

"We do our business as good as we can do it and we are completely in it and we are convinced about the way that we are going so that's all. Nervous fans? Sorry I cannot help, i don't have to write a message for this. I'm not nervous - maybe that's the right message for this."
