Napoli: Ancelotti refuses to rule out Cavani return

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti spoke to media ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Chievo. Some good news for the Azzurri as Alex Meret will be part of the squad list although he’ll start from the bench tomorrow.

“He [Meret] has been working with the rest of the team this week. He will go to the bench tomorrow”, Ancelotti said.

“It’s a strange situation for me because I’ve never had three goalkeepers of such a high level. It’s good for me but the managing is not so easy.”

“National team players are fine. Younes will soon return to action and Verdi will take a little longer. Mertens? Let’s see, he was hit during the last training and I need to make a decision about him. Diawara could start. We are happy with his performances.”

“Cavani? I don’t want to hide. I’ve coached some excellent players during my career, but I’ve never coached him. He is on a pair with Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé but that doesn’t mean they’re all Napoli targets. Edi is loved in Naples and it’s all thanks to him and what he did for this club."
