Napoli skipper Marek Hamsik stopped by Premium Sport after the heavy defeat at home at the Stadio San Paolo against Manchester City by 2-4 which all but eliminates the Partenopei from the Champions League.

"Manchester City are one of the strongest teams in Europe, but we put them in a lot of difficulty in the first half an hour. It was one of the best 30 minutes we have played since I joined Napoli, we were extraordinary" the Slovakian international began.

"It is a shame because when you lower your guard by decreasing the intensity with which you play these teams hurt you immediately. We have to be more attentive and be more cunning" Hamsik concluded.

The defeat was just one of too heavy blows for the Partenopei, the other being full-back Ghoulam's injury in the first half which first reports indicate is rather serious.
