Napoli consider signing Jackson Martinez to replace injured Arkadiusz Milik

Today’s edition of Il Mattino claims that Napoli are considering the signing of former Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez to replace injured Arkadiusz Milik who is going to remain out of action for several months due to a serious knee injury.

The Colombian striker joined Guangzhou Evergrande in January 2015 in a € 42 million bid, but he reportedly wants to leave China to return to Europe.

Trouble is, the Chinese club is not open to give the striker away for free after investing so much money on him. Napoli, however, hope to seal the player on loan with option to buy.

Another problem is represented by the player’s € 10 million a year salary which can’t be afforded by Napoli, but playing Serie A and Champions League football could be incentive for the player to lower his wages.

When Milik picked up the knee injury during the last International break, Napoli refused to sign a new striker as a free agent. As of today, however, Manolo Gabbiadini seems unable to fill the boots of the Polish ace playing as a sole striker up front and Napoli are looking for a classic centre forward who can pick up the baton of the former Ajax star.

Montreal Impact’s Didier Drogba is also on Napoli’s watchlist.
