Napoli fans call Liverpool defender Van Dijk 'butcher' after controversial foul on Mertens

Fair to say Napoli fans are furious at Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk who was the author of an awful foul on their star striker Dries Mertens in the opening minutes of Liverpool-Napoli on Tuesday night. The Reds and the Azzurri are battling it out for a place in the last-16 stage of the Champions League and Van Dijk stopped the Belgian with a foul that, for many, should've been punished with a red card rather than a yellow card.

Napoli fans are absolutely furious with de Vrij and the referee of the game Damir Skomina. Some Azzurri supporters have been calling Van Dijk 'butcher' on Twitter, urging for the referee to show VVD the 'right' card.

Jurgen Klopp spoke about the referee of Liverpool-Napoli during yesterday's press conference claiming that his lads have a chance to qualify if he doesn't do any mistake.

Meantime Napoli fans can't believe their eyes while Liverpool supporters say the yellow card was unfair because VVD touched the ball first.
