With his squad sitting atop the Serie A table, Maurizio Sarri spoke to the BBC about Napoli’s success and his future with the club.

On the Scudetto: “Juventus is the strongest team of the last 7-8 years, and has a high quality and an extraordinary coach. For me, they also remain the favorite this time and it would be presumptuous to compare ourselves to them.”

On their upcoming clash with Roma: “Di Francesco is very good and Roma is strong. The away match pitfalls are obvious, the strong team puts you in trouble for sure. So far he has won 5 and lost 1 and has a game in hand. It is definitely competitive, but the my Napoli is ready."

On managing Milan: “I would not have lasted long, if it is true what I read on [Berlusconi’s] interferences in the coach's job. Instead, he has won a lot, was a great leader and, therefore, I believe that what has been written about him is more legend than truth."

On the Italian national team's struggles: “The national team is no longer indicative of the football movement in the country. Teams are full of foreigners. The results of our club teams in international competitions are more indicative.”

On whether he’d manage the national team: "Right now, no. Then, advancing age, maybe in 2-3 years that may change as happened in so many other things."
