When it rains it pours in Naples, after three draws against Fiorentina, Bari and Utrecht, came the bad news of Cristiano Lucarelli’s injury. Medical examinations have shown that the former Livorno striker has a sprain to his left knee with a ligament injury. Lucarelli will be operated on Monday. He will be out at least five months.

And now? After the departure of Hoffer, Denis and especially Quagliarella, Napoli suddenly finds itself with only Cavani and  Dumitru in attack. The former Palermo striker will work overtime and will play all nine games from here untill the end of October (the Naples will face Roma, Liverpool and Milan) or will the young striker in co-ownership with Empoli find space?  Mazzarri’s job will be to find the answers.
