New Juve signing Szczesny reduced to tears when asked about Arsenal exit

Wojciech Szczęsny has taken his first press conference at Juventus after completing a € 12 million move from Arsenal. The Poland star was reduced to tears when he was asked if he has any regret about his time at Arsenal.

"This is a difficult question to answer", Szczesny said before he almost started crying. The 27-year-old took a small break and started again.

“I believe in myself and I am ready for this challenge. I wanted to take a step up in my career and Juventus is the biggest step I could take.”

“I saw Allegri this morning, I saw him for 15 seconds because I was training in the gym. I am not 20 anymore, I am 27 and I want to win trophies. This club only want to win, that’s the mentality of this club and that’s why [I was pushed to leave Arsenal and Roma].”

“Every player wants to be successful, there is one way to be successful and this way it’s to play for Jueventus. Player who come at Juventus become better, I didn’t want to stay at my level.”

“Kamil Glik told me very good things about the city, I think most of my teammates knew I was coming here for sometimes so they did not have any problem with it."

“I am ready to play whenever the manager wants me to play. I respect Buffon and I understand his position in this club and in Italian football. The first thing I want to do is to learn from him. How much I play is up the manager. I don’t feel pressure very often in my life. I know there is some but I don’t feel it. I want to raise the level, I know there will be pressure but I won’t feel it.”

“You don’t choose Juventus, Juventus got to choose you. I had a very good time in Roma, I had an amazing time there and I think all the people I met there. I had no doubts to join Juventus when they called me.”

“I arrived two years ago at Roma and as soon as I arrived I understood I was behind Italian goalkeepers who are very technical. I am at Juventus now so I think I have made some improvements. Trainings in Italy are much more technical and intense than in England.”
