Neymar twice asked Barca not to sell him
The Selecao star is reported to have, on two occasions, gone to president Josep Bartomeu’s office in order to ask him to reconsider PSG’s offer and not sell him.
The 25-year-old was reportedly in tears, too.
This seems to match up well with recent reports which indicated that Neymar had jokingly asked former team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez whether they would have “taken him back.”
Yet we inevitably have a number of questions: why would the Catalans – who really wanted to keep their man – want to sell him?
Beyond that, what could they have done when PSG had triggered the Brazilian’s release clause of €222 million?
This is, of course, ignoring why the Brazilian would have wanted to stay when it was his camp that was angling for a move all along.
These stories seem to match up well with recent rumours of discontent from the 25-year-old towards Coach Unai Emery. Perhaps too well.
