Official breaking news: Arsene Wener signs new Arsenal contract

It’s official. Arsenal have extended the contract of Arsene Wenger for the next two years, the club have announced through their official website. The Frenchman has extended his stay at the club until 2019 despite fans’ protests against the Frenchman during the current campaign.

Wenger was appointed as Arsenal manager back in 1996 winning 16 trophies with the club since. The last trophy won by the Gunners did probably save the job of the Frenchman who managed to lift the FA Cup against Chelsea last week.

Arsenal, however, have failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in the last 20 years and the Gunners will be playing the Europa League next season, still with Wenger in charge of the club.

“I love this club and I am looking forward to the future with optimism and excitement. We are looking at what we do well and how we can be stronger everywhere. This is a strong group of players and with some additions we can be even more successful. We’re committed to mounting a sustained league challenge and that will be our focus this summer and next season.

“I am grateful to have the support of the board and Stan in doing everything we can to win more trophies. It’s what we all want and I know it’s what our fans around the world demand”
, Wenger told the club’s official website.
