Daniele De Rossi has signed a contract extension with AS Roma, the Serie A giants have announced through their official website and social media accounts. The Italian had been in talks with his childhood club for several months and after some lengthy negotiations, the two parties have finally reached an agreement.

De Rossi is set to become the giallorossi  captain next season as Francesco Totti has just given his farewell to the club.

De Rossi, 33, is a product of AS Roma academy and has signed a two-year contract extension. The Italy star has already taken a press conference to confirm his agreement with the club.

AS Roma’s GM Mauro Baldissoni and the club’s new DS Monchi also attended the press conference in Trigoria today.

De Rossi has 561 appearances and 59 goals with the giallorossi.

The player’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of June and several big clubs had been linked with a summer move for the Italian, including Chelsea, Inter and Juventus.
