Official: Manchester United target signs contract extension with Roma

After helping to lead the team back into the group stages of next season’s Champions League, Roma have announced that Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman has signed a new deal at the club that will see him remain in the Italian capital until 2022.

The 27-year-old, who missed almost two years through a series of serious knee injuries, has been outstanding this season at the heart of the midfield and having been linked with a move to Manchester United when Louis van Gaal was in charge, it was reported that Jose Mourinho was also keen on securing his services.

On signing his new deal, Strootman stated that; “To renew is a special moment for me. I want to win something with this club. Everyone stood by me when I had my injuries and this is the reason I want to stay”.
